Where are we today Jane? I am in my home office in Melbourne.

What was the inspiration for your décor here at home? Home to me is about the important things you have collected throughout your life. They remind you of people, places and experiences. I group things by theme or colour and then every so often have a re-fresh by adding something new or editing out the old.

Can you let us in on any secret styling tips for the home? I like symmetry and generally buy things in pairs. You can’t force a look. It’s about what makes you feel comfortable and brings you joy.

What are your favourite colour palettes? Black and cream underpin most of my palettes then depending on the room, I layer with Yellow Ochre, Taupe, Navy or shades of Green.

What’s your favourite activity to unwind? Painting has always been a love of mine, but finding the time and sometimes the inspiration can be difficult. It’s one of those things that if the mood takes you – go for it.

Are you a tea or coffee kind of person? Definitely a strong coffee person. However, I am currently enjoying Lemongrass and Ginger tea in the afternoon.

What’s your favourite family movie for a cold winter’s day? Moonstruck.

What room is your favourite in the house? The kitchen.

What’s your favourite album to play at home? My music taste swings wildly between Dire Straits, Nina Simone, Lady Gaga and Classical.

What book are you currently curling up to read? “The Land Before Avocado” by Richard Glover. We all need a laugh at the moment.

Are you listening to any podcasts? “Don’t Shoot The Messenger” and “Pod Save America”.

Can you describe your perfect winter day? Watching Essendon play on a Saturday afternoon at the MCG.

What’s your go to cosy winter dish to cook? Sri Lankan Chicken Curry.

Where do you like to escape to for a cosy winter get away? The Mornington Peninsula, great walks, food and wine.

And if you wanted to escape winter completely – where would you escape to? A quiet Greek Island or the Amalfi Coast in Italy.

What’s your go-to winter ensemble for keeping stylish in the colder months? I wear long boots nearly all Winter, so the JL everywoman black pant is a perfect base. Then, depending on the situation a cosy wrap sweater, or silk blouse and leather jacket.

You’re so well established in the fashion world, what made you want to introduce a Home range? Firstly, I love design across many fronts. Homes and interiors have always been a passion, so it’s a wonderful opportunity for me to create something with my own JL handwriting.

What was the inspiration for this season’s range? Luscious textures and a soft colour palette. I love the idea of curling up and cocooning in Winter.

Can you tell us about the range – what rooms of the house are you designing for? My first focus was the bedroom as this is an area where my natural knowledge in fabrics and colours easily transition into bedlinen. I have always loved to curl up at night with beautiful soft fabrics and a soft colours that allows my mind to relax and think about the day, it’s my private luxury.

What’s your favourite piece in the range? For this season I would have to say it’s my 700TC sateen sheet sets they come in 4 soft colours including white, silver, and an amazing pink blush and soft blue and give you that hotel feel every night. Not only that but they wash so easily so not only feel great but easy to look after.

What can we expect from the Jane Lamerton Home range in the coming seasons? As the range develops I am looking forward to give customers the end to end solution for their homes from not only the bedlinen but the doonas and pillows used inside and the toppers to give you that all around luxury hotel feel at home but always with my Jane touch of femininity and timeless fashion. Did I also say I have cushions and throws for your couch also in development.

What’s your favourite fabrics for homewares? I guess I would have to say cotton as it feels great, it’s breathable, it’s natural and also allows me to creatively do anything with design, colour and construction.
